PADI Open Water (Learn to Dive)
Course overview
With our personalized scuba format, you can adapt the program to fit your schedule. You’ll participate in 4 to 5 hours of pool diving, along with tailored theory review sessions, followed by 4 training dives over 2 days.
Our flexible programs cater to individual training as well as small groups of 2 or 3 students, and we can create custom schedules for groups of 4 or more. Pricing varies based on the group size.

- Train in a Drysuit: Our dive center exclusively trains students in drysuits, ensuring you remain warm and dry during open water dives. Our quality Aqualung Fusion Drysuits are available for rent and offer a superb fit, complete with customizable neck and wrist seals.
- Tailored Learning and Training: Our experience has shown that better training leads to a more enjoyable diving experience. To enhance this, we've developed a customized learn-to-dive program that exceeds the basic PADI Open Water Diver course. In our program, you will learn:

Course Prerequisites
- Minimum Age: 12 Years Old – Children aged 10 and 11 may be eligible for PADI Open Water training. Please consult Northern Underwater Explorers staff for further information.
Once you register for your PADI Open Water Course, we will send you your eLearning link to start your PADI Open Water program immediately!

Mask & Snorkel Requirements
For reasons of fit, comfort, and hygiene, courses do not include a mask and snorkel. Therefore, students are required to provide their own personal mask and snorkel for the program.
Northern Underwater Explorers students receive a 15% discount on all diving masks and snorkels.
Medical Statement
All students must complete a Medical Statement prior to any in-water activities. If you answer “yes” to any of the medical questions, please consult with Northern Underwater Explorers, as you may need to see a physician before starting the course.
Basic Swimming Ability and Comfort in Water Required
Students must complete a 200 m free swim or a 300 m swim with mask, snorkel, and fins, plus a 10- minute float as part of the course requirements. If you’re uncertain about meeting this requirement, please contact us for assistance.
Note: Individuals not meeting the swimming requirement will not be eligible for a refund. Please see our Course Transfer and Cancellation Policy for additional details.
