Northern Underwater Explorers:
A family-driven, Indigenous-owned journey beneath the surface
Northern Underwater Explorers is more than a business—it’s a lifelong passion brought to life by family, culture, and a deep connection to the water.
Founded by Sam Cheblak, who was born and raised on the water, this proudly Indigenous-owned company is grounded in a lifetime of diving experience, a love for aquatic ecosystems, and a commitment to meaningful work below the surface.
Sam has been diving since childhood, both recreationally and professionally, with a passion that spans from ecosystem restoration to the exploration of the unknown. Every dive is more than a task—it’s a way to connect, protect, and uncover the stories held by our waterways.
By his side is his wife, Pamela Ketlo Cheblak, whose roots are deeply tied to the salmon-bearing rivers of her youth. Her connection to fish and water is generational—where the salmon return, so too does the knowledge and respect passed down through her family. Pamela’s unwavering support and insight help guide the spirit of Northern Underwater Explorers.
Together, Sam and Pamela have built a family-based business that offers underwater services including inspections, marine habitat assessments, search and recovery, and infrastructure support. They also proudly offer dive training to share their knowledge and help others develop confidence and respect in the water.
Combining modern diving practices with cultural values and environmental stewardship, Northern Underwater Explorers is committed to working in harmony with communities, the land, and the water.
Join us beneath the surface—where family, tradition, and discovery come together.
